If a person becomes mentally incapable of managing and administering their own property and affairs (the 'Patient') an application can be made to the Court of Protection for a person to be appointed as a Deputy. That means that under the supervision of the Court the Deputy the Deputy will have authority to manage and adminster the Patient's affairs.
